Nova Scotia Immigration Issues Invites Through Two Entrepreneur Streams

Nova Scotia immigration has conducted two latest business immigration draws, targeting two Entrepreneur Streams and International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream candidate.

The draws, which took place on Feb. 5, saw Twenty-Eight (28) invitations sent out through the Nova Scotia Nominee Program.

The Entrepreneur Stream draw featured Twenty-Seven (27) invitations, with the lowest-ranked applicants scoring 115 points.

Just one invitation was sent out through the International Graduate Entrepreneur Streams, to a candidate scoring Sixty-Seven (67) points.

Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream

The Nova Scotia Entrepreneur stream targets applicants with senior management experience or business ownership. They must reside in Nova Scotia, either open a new business or buy into an existing business, and actively participate in the daily management of the business.

Under the Entrepreneur stream, applicants are first given a temporary work permit before filing for permanent residence after operating the business for a year. The stream make use of an Expression of Interest format, where applicants in a pool are invited to apply.

Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Streams: Candidate Requirement

  • Be aged Twenty-One (21) or older.
  • Desire to reside permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a business in Nova Scotia.
  • The minimum net worth of $600,000.
  • Minimum investments of $150,000 to establish or buy into a business in Nova Scotia.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience actively managing and owning a business (Thirt-Three (33) per cent ownership minimum)
  • OR more than Five (5) years of experience in a senior business management role.
  • Score minimum of Five (5) on the Canadian Language Benchmark in listening, speaking, reading and writing in French or English.

International Graduate Entrepreneur

The International Graduate Entrepreneur program is similar to the Entrepreneur stream, only aimed at recent graduates from a university in Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia Community College. They must have opened or buy into a Nova Scotia business and ran it for a year on a Post-Graduation Work Permit.

Candidates are nominated for permanent residence if they wanted to settle in the province. The stream is operated on an Expression of Interest format similar to the Entrepreneur program.

Candidate Requirements for International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream:

  • Wish to reside permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a business in Nova Scotia.
  • Minimum one year of continuous experience actively engaged and owning your current business in Nova Scotia (100 per cent ownership).
  • Have completed a diploma or degree including a minimum of Two (2) academic years of full-time, in-person study at a university in Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia Community College.
  • Approve or valid post-graduation work permit.
  • A minimum score of Seven (7) on the Canadian Language Benchmark in reading, speaking, listening, and writing in French or English.
